Answered: Ethernet Coupler Allowed?

Not sure if this is the correct category to post this…

We are having issues with students accidentally pulling (without pressing the ‘release tab’) the Ethernet cables out of the joysticks and damaging the ports of the joystick. We are a middle school team, composed of mostly sixth graders, so they are young (and likely unaware)- however we’d like to PREVENT any additional unintentional damage. Would a coupler like this (attached image) be allowed? I’m imagining using the screws of the joystick to ‘mount’ this coupler with a bracket so that the competition Ethernet cable would plug into the coupler port. This would not be modifying the actual controller, just exist as a 5 dollar way to prevent unintentional damage to a 150 dollar device.

No this is not legal however we will consider devices like these for future seasons.
