I have a further question regarding a previous thread about a robot becoming disabled over a gate https://vexforum.com/t/answered-interaction-with-a-gate/21062/1

Regarding <SG12> “Robots may not interact with the gate for more than five seconds…” If a robot tips over or becomes disabled on a gate due to a mechanical problem, and is eventually able to correct itself to allow the gate to be lifted in time but takes more than 5 seconds to do so, does this robot get disqualified due to <SG12>?

Or is this rule aimed toward intentional continuous contact with a gate, not accidental contact?

Yes, they would be disqualified. <SG12> makes no mention of intentional interaction versus accidental interaction. If a Robot interacts with the Gate for more than 5 seconds, they will be disqualified.

<SG12> Robots may not interact with the Gate for more than five (5) seconds or after there are thirty-five (35) seconds remaining in the Match. Robots may not interfere with the raising of the Gate, nor may they lift the Gate. Violations of this rule will result in a Disqualification.
