Answered: Holding Down The Lifts at the Start in Autonomous

Some of our team robots have stretch bot lifts that want to rest in the up position due to tension in the rubber bands which makes then taller that the 15 inches allowed at the beginning of a match. This is not a problem in team work or driver skills since they simply lower the lifts and the motors hold them in place. However, in autonomous, the motors do not hold the lifts in place until the program is activated, so the teams have held the head down with one hand. Once the match starts, the teams activate the program and release the head simultaneously. Is this legal? Thank you.

No, this would not be legal.
