Answered: How to wire a motor

I was interested in wiring a hi-speed motor up to one of the motor ports. it would just have a negetive positive polls can i do this with a bread board? or just hooking some wires up? or will I need a speed controller? like the victor?

If you are not using a Vex Motor, you must determine what your motor needs: voltage input and the input control signal required. You can find the specifications for the Vex Controller Motor Outputs on the Starter Kit web page http://www.vexlabs.com/vex-robotics-design-system.shtml. The pinout for the Motor Outputs are also on the same web page. You must now determine if your motor is compatible with the Vex Controller. If it is not, you must determine if a Victor Speed Controller is compatible with your motor by comparing with the Victor specifications http://www.ifirobotics.com/speed-controller-selection-guide.shtml. The Victor Speed Controller is compatible with the Vex Controller see posts: https://vexforum.com/t/easyc/12310/1.
