Hi Karthik, my team is participating in California State finals. We were getting our robot inspected, when the RECF partner (I presume he is, he was wearing an RECF jacket) told us that out plastic on our pusher is too thick. We went back to our pits to check, and measured that it was 1/32 of an inch thick. In case you didn’t know, 1/32=0.03125, which is less than 0.07, the legal limit of thickness. We then brought it back to the inspection table with a measuring tape, but basically told us that he didn’t want to hear it, and that we would be re-inspected tomorrow morning. I don’t really have any question, but I do feel like he should have inspected us. Just wanted to bring this to your attention, and did he act appropriately?
EDIT: We told him that if he had any questions abojt the materials we used, he should talk to our mentor, he is the one that buys the parts. The RECF guy said, “I’m not good at talking to adults. I don’t want to talk to adults. I’m not going to talk to adults.” When our mentor tried to ask him, he completely ignored him, and on our attempt to get reinspected, he basically told us to leave. In my opinion, he acted unprofessionally. He didn’t even try to measure it, he just looked at it. I think that he was looking at where it was flush against the c-channel that holds up our pushin plates. He at least could have tried to measure it, but he just dismissed us as if we were annoying him.
