Answered: Interaction With the Gate

What exactly constitutes interacting with the gate? This post does offer some insight, but I just want to clarify.
Rule SG12 says:

Does simply touching the gate for more than 5 seconds result in a disqualification?
What if a robot gets stuck and is not able to pull out of the gate? (What if the robot is able to pull out after 6 seconds?)
What if a robot is pushing another robot into the gate for more than 5 seconds? Are both teams disqualified? (What if this happens in autonomous?)
What if a robot pushes a game object into the gate?

Do the answers to any of these questions change depending on whether it is autonomous or driver control period? What about depending on which team’s gate is in question?

Take a look at this previous Q&A for more insights.

Yes.

Teams are responsible for the actions of their robots. There is no allowance for “stuck” robots. This would be a DQ.

The team who pushed the robot into the gate for more than 5 seconds would be disqualified for Pinning and/or for violating <SG12>. A team who is pinned into the Gate will never be punished.

There is no penalty for this action.

No.

Ok, thanks for clarifying. I knew that I had seen a post asking about this before, and I thought that I had found the right one. I guess I should have looked harder.

You’re welcome!
