Answered: Interference

When using my robots in R/C mode about half are having problems with interference. We are using them one at a time and I make sure that all other trans are off. It would seem to me all would be affected but not so. Ideas? Thanks.

easleyj1,

How many robots are you trying to run at the same time?
Do all your robots have the same crystal number (frequency)?

Yes all are the same freq., we are only running one at a time. The only trans on is the one for the robot in use.

Why do you think you have interference problems? Exactly what are the symptoms - what is the robot doing or not doing differently?

They will jerk around and will not follow input from the controller at times. I am personally in charge of the transmitters and all are off except the one in use. Monday we will swap receivers and trans from problem bots and see if the problems migrate.

Great, swapping components 1 at a time with a know working system is a good way to isolate issues. Also watch the LEDs on the PIC Microcontroller, they can signal if the unit has lost the transmit signal or other issues.

Are the antennas on the transmitters fully extended? Are the antennas on the robot wrapped around metal, or are they out in the open?
