Hey i bought this anti slip mat because i was planning on just building a hobby version of a clean sweep bot. the issue is i finished and the thing is really good. this is really the only thing that is not purchased from vex because i was able to get it in CVS and saved about $10 and 3 days waiting due to shipping. i found a web page with the same product and have posted it below i have the white version. my question is regarding the legality of using this. i know if it is identical to the vex stuff it is ok so is it identical? http://doitbest.com/Shelf+and+drawer+liners-Kittrich+Corp-model-6L52-doitbest-sku-619389.dib
As you say, per <R7b> if the mat you posted is identical to the anti-slip mat sold by VEX it would be legal for competition use.
The final ruling about whether the mat is “identical” to the VEX mat is ultimately up to the inspectors at your events.
If I was your inspector I would look to see if the mat you have is any functionally different from the mat sold by VEX. If not, then I would approve it.
Different color mats are acceptable, as long as they are functionally identical.
Though it is impossible for me to make a final ruling based on the web link you submitted, I would think it looks “close enough”. Again… beware picky inspectors, they have the final ruling!
