Answered: Large Balls Leaving the Field

At a recent competition one of the robots on the opposing alliance launched a large ball into the goal zone it bounced off one of our balls and out of the field. Our ball fell into the Goal zone. The referee returned the opposing teams ball to the middle zone. For future reference should it have been returned to the hanging zone and our ball that was knocked over left in the goal zone?

Relevent Rule:

<G8> Scoring Objects that leave the playing field will be promptly returned to the playing field in the same
Zone as the Robot that ejected the Scoring Object. Teams may not intentionally remove Scoring Objects
from the scoring field, while not in the process of Stashing or removing Stashed Scoring Objects.
Violations of this rule will result in a warning for minor offenses which do not affect the match. Egregious
(match affecting) offenses will result in a Disqualification. Teams who receive multiple warnings may also
receive a Disqualification at the head referee’s discretion. Note: Scoring Objects will never be returned to
the playing field in a Stashed position

The Large Ball that was launched should have been returned to the Zone from which it was launched. The Large Ball that was contacted by the launched Large Ball, should have been returned to the Zone that it was in when contacted.
