Answered: Legally re-positioning Skyrise section in Autoloader during Autonomous

Hello Karthik,
I would like to ask about the legality of an act in autonomous.

The following are rules regarding autonomous period:

My question is:

Is it legal for a drive team member to manipulate the loaded skyrise section in the autoloader during autonomous, given that the robot is not contacting the skyrise section? If possible, which of the following acts during autonomous are counted as Legal or Illegal?
*]Adjusting the angle of the skyrise section in the autoloader
*]Removing the skyrise section from the autoloader
*]Removing and putting the skyrise section back into the autoloader
Based on my interpretation of the rules, these acts are all legal, as long as the robot is not contacting the skyrise section.

However, I also understand GDC’s intent of eliminating human factors in autonomous period. The above rules are all examples of human interaction in autonomous. For instance, a robot with a needle skyrise intake may drive above the skyrise section and wait. A programmer would adjust the angle of the skyrise section in autoloader to make sure the robot picks it up, if there’s any inconsistency in autonomous program. I interpret this as a legal act, but a type of human interaction in autonomous. Therefore I seek clarification.

Thank you!

This is legal.

All legal.

This previous Q&A entry does a good job of summarizing some of the issues addressed here.

Thank you Karthik! The previous thread is helpful!

You’re welcome!
