Is it permissible to modify the competition template background code as long as the robot passes the field control system check?
Specifically, I wanted to display the current battery voltage on the LCD screen while the robot is disabled, instead of the “disabled timer.”
I understand that any modifications to the background code would be made at my own risk.

Yes, there are no rules prohibiting this. As you stated, any modifications will be at your own risk. Please make sure to test your code thoroughly prior to competition!
