Hello,

I am aware that you are not allowed to have extra motors exceeding your limited allotment even if they are not plugged in. But can you have the empty plastic shell of a motor mounted to your robot? It would not be plugged in and not have the chord or internals. Would it count as a non-functional decoration?

No, this is not legal as it would create unnecessary confusion for referees and inspectors. It would be considered a violation of <R15a>:

<R15> Parts may NOT be modified as follows:
a. Motors (including the internal PTC), extension cords, sensors, controllers, battery packs, reservoirs, solenoids, pistons and any other electrical component or pneumatics component of the VEX Robotics Design System may NOT be altered from their original state in ANY way.
