Answered: Motor & Servo ESC question

What’s the correct frequency and period for controlling the motor and servos?

Please refer to the VEX Motor post.

Hello, thanks for your reply.

Aren’t these answers conflicting?

Thank you, appreciate the help.

No. What do you think is conflicting?

Well, the first post says the period should be between “1ms to 2ms,” and the second says it should be “1.7ms to 2.7ms.” They are talking about the same thing, aren’t they?

I’m also confused about what the frequency is supposed to be. If the second post is talking about PWM it’s saying the frequency changes. But isn’t the PWM frequency supposed to stay constant, and only the period of the pulses change?

Thanks for your help, I’m new to this stuff.

**Ok, I have updated the post to clarify: The Full Reverse to Full Forward High part of the PWM Signal will need to vary from about 1ms to 2ms.

On the second section, they wanted to know the maximum update rate. The Low part of the PWM Signal must be at least low for 700us. Thus ,if you were sending out all high pulses that were 1ms wide followed by the Minimum Low time of 700us, the total period would be 1.7ms or 588Hz.**
