We are using old motor wire of approximately the same length that is sold by vex as string to pull on the vex claw on the front of our robot. Would this be legal to use the old motor wire for this purpose. The motors would not be attached to the cortex or motors in any way just to clarify. Attached are pictures of the claw using the wire in this way.

No, this would not be legal. This would be a violation of <R15a>, which prohibits the modification of any electronic components, which the wires are included in.
