Answered: Negation/Double Barrel Introduction Timing

A question came up at an event yesterday regarding introduction of the Doubler Barrel and Negation Barrel that a group of us, including Refs from the event, believe could use better definition. Relative to the requirement to introduce the Doubler and Negation only in the last 30 seconds, at what point are these items considered to be placed into play. Varying opinions indicated there could be 4 obvious steps during introduction that could serve as the point at which the barrel is considered introduced:

  1. When the barrel is picked up
  2. When the barrel crosses the plane of the field wall
  3. When the barrel contacts the robot or field tile
  4. When the individual removes their hand from the barrel after it is set on the robot/field mat

If there was a previous clarification on this, we are unaware of it.

A Barrel is considered to be introduced by an alliance once it has touched a Robot or an Alliance Starting Tile of the same colour as the alliance.
