Answered: no communication link to computer

I am having problems with my Cortex. i had sensors that were working and then out of nowhere they stopped.( all of them) so i went to download the master code to the cortex and it wouldn’t connect so i used my friends computer and it didn’t connect with his either. We have an older cortex laying around so we tried with that one and it worked fine but it has other problems so we can’t just use that. any suggestions?

Tech-Know Recuits,

Have you tried manually setting the Cortex in bootload mode?
Also what kind of programming software do you have easyC or ROBOTC?

yes i have tried in bootload mode. i am using ROBOTC v3.06

When you connect the Cortex to your PC, please check under “Ports” on your Windows Device Manager.
If the Cortex is detected by the PC, it will appear as “VEX Robotics Comm Port…”

Let me know your findings.

i am using it on a mac throughout VMware. It will connect until it tell it to connect to the windows side or mac side and then it says it is connected but by looking at the cortex or try to download something it says no connection link

I recommend you to re-download the drivers for your ROBOTC software.
If you are running a Windows environment on your MAC and you are trying to download with a USB A-to-A cable, you will need the VEXnet Serial USB Driver: https://vexforum.com/wiki/index.php/Software_Downloads
