Answered: non-functional decoration using cortex/power expander power

Recently you answered this thread: https://vexforum.com/showthread.php?p=376420#post376420

I am simply asking for a broader ruling. Provided that a non-functional decoration that uses electric power, doesn’t interfere with gameplay in any way. And is not violating any other rules. And that decoration is plugged into a sensor or motor port on a cortex, or is plugged into a power expander plugged into the cortex, so it only draws power from a legal vex battery, is it legal?

Are additional, non-vex, motors allowed if this decoration is 100% non-functional? Those at inspection can determine if it is truly non-functional.

Are additional vex motors allowed if this decoration is 100% non-functional?

Is the cortex allowed to control these devices, program these decorations to turn on and off. If so, can these be legally controlled by buttons or joysticks on the controller during driver control. ex. You press a button and a light turns on. Or move the joystick to spin a flag.

I know common sense always applies, so I won’t try and do anything excessive, dangerous, or possibly harmful to a cortex, field, or other robots.

Thank you for spending your time to read and answer all of this karthik.

Unfortunately due to the myriad of possibilities here, we’re unable to make a blanket statement legalizing all types of devices.

You’re welcome!

OK, I might post something more specific later if we plan to try something.

So if I wanted to use lights similar to those in the thread already answered (https://vexforum.com/showthread.php?p=376420#post376420)

Would the quoted question above be allowed?

Thanks.

Provided no other rules are being violated in the process, this is legal.

Thanks karthik.
