Answered: # of Teams for official Skills-only event

Is there a minimum number of teams required at a skills-only event to make the skills score official on the global list ?

I did not see this mentioned in the qualification criteria.

Normally questions related to World Championship qualification should be posted in the Official VRC World Championship Q&A, where you can get official clarifications from the REC Foundation. I’ve checked with the REC on this one; yes, you do need 16 events in a “skills only” event for the event to be considered official and to include teams in the Global Skills Rankings.

Thank you for the response Karthik,

16 teams is a definite change from last year’s rules. A minimum team number is important but 16 seems too high from my experience hosting skills-only events in the past. I think it should be closer to 8 teams.

Skills-only events are much easier for new EPs to setup. Telling the registered teams that their scores don’t count because they only had 14 teams attend will be a difficult message to convey.

I will continue this conversation on other channels.

You’re welcome!
