Ok, so R7 D-I states "Anodizing and painting of parts would be considered a legal nonfunctional decoration. "
R15 states “Motors (including the internal PTC), extension cords, sensors, controllers, battery packs, reservoirs, solenoids, pistons and any other electrical component or pneumatics component of the VEX Robotics Design System may NOT be altered from their original state in ANY way.”
I’m assuming it is illegal to paint the motor casing(specifically the green backplate), but I’d like an official response to be sure. Part of the decoration design i’m doing would look cool with painted backplates. So assuming that it is completely nonfunctional decoration, is it legal or illegal to paint or otherwise change the color of the motor casings?
For this specific case, <R7d> takes precedence over <R15>, provided that it is still abundantly clear to inspectors that your motor is a legal VEX EDR motor.
Sweet, thank you!
You’re welcome!
