Is it legal to polish surfaces? Is it legal to use a hardening wax, like a car wax, on surfaces as long as it doesn’t leave any residue on the game elements?

In general polishing surfaces is legal. However if you use a polishing substance, such as car wax, you need to carefully consider the following.
- If the polishing substance changes the coefficient of friction of the surface, it would no long be permitted to interact with any game pieces.
- If the polishing substance bonds to the surface and increases the hardness, this would make it a functional addition, thus illegal.
Also, please be very careful when polishing steel, as it can become highly susceptible to oxidization.
