Is this normal? (indicating that the circuit breaker has been tripped?)
This happens when we shut off the power to the VEX controller. The power expander just blinks a slow red and never turns off. When we turn the power back on the VEX controller, the power expander flashes a fast green blink (indicating that the circuit breaker has been tripped, but it recovered).
Is this the normal operation? Is it ok to leave the power expander connected to the 2nd battery when we shut the power off the main VEX controller, or do we have to unplug the power expander first?
Thanks.
Paul Tan.
**No, this is not normal. If the motor runs correctly when everything is turned ON, this verifies your wiring is correct. Turning OFF the VEX Microcontroller should not cause the VEX Power Expander LED to turn Red providing you are just using standard VEX Products. You should call our tech-support line to obtain an RMA to return the product.
It is okay to leave the VEX Power Expander ON after you turn the VEX Microcontroller OFF. Power to the VEX Power Expander will remain ON for approximately 3 minutes. After that time, the VEX Power Expander will shut down automatically. This extended time out allows you to verify any problems that may have occurred during a match. If you prefer to disconnect the battery from the VEX Power Expander, that is okay too.**
