Does anyone know how many turns the middle school division will get for the side challenges?
At Worlds, how will the programming skills and driver skills challenges for the middle school be done. Is it a stand in line and take a turn or do you have to register? I noticed on the agenda it had Skills Challenge rounds 1 & 2 and Skills Challenge rounds 3 & 4.
For Thursday the agenda says lunch from noon til 1 p.m. , but then it has team/driver meeting at 12:15. Do you know if we get 15 minutes for lunch or is this a mistake? Just curious.
Thanks

Below are the details for the Programming and Robot Skills Challenges for the 2011 VEX Robotics Competition World Championship
**

Friday 9:30am – 12:15pm and 1:00pm – 6:00pm
If a team did NOT do 2 rounds of a particular Skills Challenge on Thursday, then they can do 1 or 2 rounds in each Skills Challenge
Up to 4 total, no more than 2 for a specific challenge. If a team did 2 rounds for a particular Skills Challenge on Thursday, then they can do 1 more on Friday (but no more than 1)
A team can get up to 3 scores max for each Skills Challenge
**Saturday 9:00am – 11:30am **
The Top 10 teams in the rankings for each Skills Challenge at the end of Friday will get 1 more round on Saturday morning to try to improve their score
The top 2 teams at the end of this round will compete in a single head to head round during the finals between 4:00-5:00pm to determine the 2011 World Champion
Other Important Details
The Ranking for each Skills Challenge will be determined as follows
-
Using the highest score (or next highest score in case of a tie) per Appendix B & C
-
The Championship Heads-Up Matches will follow the guidelines in Appendix B & C
**Skills Challenges are not scheduled - they are first come/first serve
**
-
It is up to each team to plan and fit in Skills Challenge Rounds each day
-
It is highly advised that teams not wait until the end of the day, as the line may be too long and time may run out without getting a chance to record a score
One addition. The middle school teams will compete in the same pool as the high school teams. The highest-ranking middle school team in each of the challenges will receive recognition and a trophy as the champion middle school, unless they win the overall skills challenge, then they will just receive the one championship trophy for that challenge.
For example:
MS Team 8 finishes with a score of 80 in Robot Skills and HS Team 25 has the high score with 85. Team 8 would receive the trophy for Middle School Robot Skills Champion and Team 25 would receive the trophy for Robot Skills World Champion.
If MS Team 8 scores 85 and has the highest score, they would receive the trophy for Robot Skills World Champion, and the Middle School Robot Skills Champion trophy would not be awarded.
