Answered: <R7>c regarding flanged nuts

Rule <R7>c allows: “Any commercially available #4, #6, #8, M2, M2.5, M3 or M4 screw up to 2” long, and any commercially available nut and/or washer to fit these screws."

So I would like to ask if nuts that have flanges would be considered legal. Personally, I don’t see the advantage to a flange and I think the difference is trivial, but I want to ask to make sure they can be used. In particular, we are looking at this type of nut for an 8-32 screw: McMaster-Carr
