Answered: <R7>i Heated bending of plastics other than polycarbonate

Rule <R7>i says:

Plastic can be mechanically altered by cutting, drilling or bending etc., but it cannot be chemically treated, melted or cast. Teams may heat the polycarbonate to aid in bending.

I’m just checking to ascertain it’s legal to heat for the purposes of bending the other types of plastic also listed in <R7> but in “f” where it lists the following plastics:

.polycarbonate, acetel monopolymer (Delrin), acetal copolymer (Acetron GP), POM (acetal), ABS, PEEK, PET, HDPE, LDPE, Nylon (all grades), Polypropylene, FEP…

Thanks.

Yes, it’s legal to heat any legal plastics for the purposes of bending.

That’s great news. Thanks very much!

You’re welcome!
