Hello,
My question involves rule R7, which is about using identical non-VEX parts. Am I allowed to use rubber bands that are the same type (#32) as the ones VEX sells, but are a longer length? VEX sells 3" rubber bands, and these are 7".

We ask you to please thoroughly read the VEX Skyrise Game Manual and to please review the Q&A Usage Guidelines before posting in this forum. Specifically, please quote the rule or definition that your question is referring to.

Let’s take a look at <R7b> from the VEX Skyrise Game Manual. I’ve bolded some text for emphasis:

<R7> Robots are allowed the following additional “non-VEX” components:
b. Any parts which are identical to legal VEX parts. For the purposes of this rule, products which are identical in all ways except for color are permissible. Note: It is up to inspectors to determine whether a component is “identical” to an official VEX component.

7" rubber bands are not identical to 3" rubber bands, thus they are not legal.
