Answered: Robot hanging from annother robot

I was wondering if a robot could low hang from a high hanging robot. Of corse this would have to be planned in the design ahead of time. Also, could you hang from the structure or have some of the robot weight on the structure bars that support the hanging bar?

There are no rules that prevent a team from attempting to Hang by attaching themselves to a partner Robot that is Hanging. However, please carefully look at the definition of Low Hanging.

Low Hanging - A Robot is considered to be Low Hanging if it is touching the Hanging Bar of its own color and not touching any foam field tile or the Bump.

Regardless or whether or not you’re touching a partner Robot, you still need to be touching the Hanging Bar to be considered Hanging.

There are no rules preventing you from having some of your Robot weight on the Hanging Structure. However, please be very mindful of <SG9> which is quoted below. I’ve bolded some text for emphasis.

<SG9> Robots may not intentionally grasp, grapple or attach to any Field Elements with the exception of the Bar. Strategies with mechanisms that react against multiple sides of a field element in an effort to latch onto said field element are prohibited. (See figures 14-16) The intent of this rule is to prevent teams from both unintentionally damaging the field, and from anchoring themselves to the field. Special attention will be paid to any teams interacting with the Hanging Structure. Violations of this rule will result in a Disqualification.
