Today in a tournament we attended, a new robot skills world record was broken. The team was able to shoot all the pre-loads from both the red and blue tile in the 60 second period, and then some. I noticed that they shot them ALL from the red tile however, but recall watching videos of team 8059A (previous record holder) and that team switched from the red tile to the blue tile before launching the pre-loads for the opposite color from what they started on. After much review of the rules, we could not find anywhere stating where you had to be to launch the driver control loads on the corresponding color side or not. In short, can all 48 balls be launched without moving (as the team at the tournament today did), or must you launch 24 from one side, and 24 from the other? (as team 8059A did in their videos) Thank you.
We ask you to please thoroughly read the VEX Robotics Comeptition Nothing But Net Game Manual and to please review the Q&A Usage Guidelines before posting in this forum. Specifically, please quote the rule or definition that your question is referring to.
Let’s look at from the Robot Skills Challenge Appendix:
Thus you would be able to start with 4 Robot Skills Preloads on the Red Alliance Starting Tiles, then load 28 Robot Skills Loads from the Red Loading Zone. To access the remaining 32 Robot Skills Loads you would need to travel to the Blue Loading Zone. There is no restriction on where you have to shoot the Balls, just a restriction on where they may be Loaded.
Thank you for clearing that up! Will the scores of that tournaments robot skills still be valid, or will they eventually be removed seeing as they were not scored in accordance with the rules?
