Answered: SG9 question

SG9 in part states:

Would it be legal to use a flat/convex portion of a robot to move multiple cones to a specific area, but only for the purpose of gaining access to a particular area of the field? For example, would it be legal to push away the cones from a mobile goal at the beginning of the match in order to gain access to that mobile goal? Is it legal is the cones are pushed into pretty much the same position each time this is done?

Please refer to the answer to this Q&A for some further clarification on <SG9>.

As always, it is difficult to issue blanket rulings based off of a snapshot of a single action within a match. However, based off of the details provided, this sounds more like driving through Cones that are in a Robot’s way, which is specifically allowed in <SG9>.

In general, if your Robot is just driving around the field trying to play the game, you’re probably not in violation of <SG9>. The August manual update will include some additional verbiage (based on Q&A’s like this one) to help clarify this.
