Answered: Skills - Partner's Preload

Happy Friday!

Per this thread:
https://vexforum.com/t/answered-robot-programming-skills-preload-allowed-to-touch-the-skyrise-base/28007/1

It was ruled that your preload is allowed to touch the Skyrise Base during skills.

My Question:
During skills (driver & programming), may I position my partner’s preload to be touching the Skyrise Base, their starting tile, and NOT any grey tiles?

More specifically, during skills (driver & programming), may I position my partner’s preload to be resting on top of the Skyrise Base, touching their starting tile, and NOT any grey tiles?

Please see attachment for clarification.

Thank you for clarification!

This would not be legal. In Skills the only Preload that you’re allowed to adjust is the one that your Robot is using as its own Preload.

Thanks Karthik!

We would like to write an autonomous skills function that uses our alliance partner’s preload. We had previously assumed that we could position it anywhere on the starting tile, which led us to the “on top of base” strategy.

I have been searching, but have been unsuccessful in finding anything that defines how the other three preloads are to be positioned at the start of a match, other than:

Each of the other three (3) Cubes must be placed on each of three remaining Alliance Starting Tiles, not touching any grey foam tiles, and fully within the field perimeter. (i.e. There must be one Cube on each Alliance Starting Tile)

Do they have a specific starting position?

Or is it like returning a field element to the field:
"Scoring Objects that leave the playing field will be promptly returned to the playing field in approximately the same location from which they exited the field. "

Thank you for your time!

This is a good question. They will be placed approximately in the center of the tile.

Thanks Karthik!

You’re welcome!
