Answered: Small Post Ownership Score Clarification

Hello!

In the area where I am we have had so far 3 competitions and we will be having another one this weekend. In all of these competitions we have had confusion with the ownership rule that gives a team an extra point if they have the highest cube on a post (known as owning a post). Our confusion is focused on the 2 small posts next to the starting tiles, one on the blue alliance side and the other on the red alliance side.

During the 15 second autonomous we have had a few robots score a cube on the small post. We have been scoring this as 2 points: 2 points for being scored on the post and 0 points for owning the post. Our logic has been that it would be extremely difficult for the opposite team to travel across the field and compete for the same post and therefore compete for the ownership.

Are we wrong? Should we be scoring this as 3 points instead of 2 points? Should we be counting ownership points for every post owned by a team during autonomous?

Under the same logic that teams can not compete against each other for ownership points, we have not been counting ownership for the two small posts (one on each side) due to the rule that the opossing team can not enter each other's restricted area. This is during driver control. We have been counting ownership for all the other posts during driver control.

Have we been scoring this wrong as well? Should we be counting ownership for every single instance as such, no matter it be during autonomous or driver control?

I apologize for my many questions and their confusing nature.

Thank you!

Yes, this is incorrect. Ownership of a Post counts for one point, regardless of which Post it is. This is what’s stated in the VEX Skyrise Game Manual.

Yes, this is incorrect as well. Every instance of Ownership counts for every Post, in both Autonomous and Driver Controlled Periods.
