Our robot has a swing-out arm that is tucked into the robot to meet the 18x18x18 size specification. Our question is, can the robot be positioned at start to touch the field wall in such a way that the swing out arm cannot deploy (thus meeting the size spec) until the robot starts and moves forward? Is that a legal starting configuration?
Robots are allowed to the field perimeter at the star of the match. However, the Robot cannot rely on touching the field perimeter to stay within the 18"x18"x18" starting requirement. A robot needs to be able to fit within the sizing requirement without touching the outer dimensions.
