if you know could you tell me the chain size used for the tank treads

This is a custom chain, with a pitch of approximately 0.384". There is (to my knowledge) no standard chain which will mate with Vex tank tread components.

Yes, it is close. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades.

#35 chain will NOT mesh with Vex Tank Tread Components.

#35 sprockets WILL mesh with Vex Tank Tread, but they don’t mesh very well. Depending on your application, this may be acceptable.
