Answered: Using Light Sensors to detect colored materials

Not sure if this has already been asked but I couldn’t find anything from a search.

Are we allowed to put a colored material (such as a black and white piece of paper) on a legal vex piece to detect the position of that piece with a light sensor?

I do remember something about using color filters for light sensors being legal a while ago, but this is a little different, and i don’t remember the specifics of that ruling.

Not sure what rule this would fall under either, so I don’t know what to quote form the manual.

Thanks in advance.

We ask you to please thoroughly read the VEX Robotics Comeptition Nothing But Net Game Manual and to please review the Q&A Usage Guidelines before posting in this forum. Specifically, please quote the rule or definition that your question is referring to.

You should quote the exact rule that talks about color filters for light sensors. There’s a specific rule that answers your question directly.
