Is it an acceptable practice to use two motors to drive one axle for doing some heavy lifting? Should there be any concern with the motors being out of sync and thus stressing one of the motors.
Using more than one motor mechanically linked together is definitely an acceptable practice. These motors will “balance” their torques together. In most cases if utilized correctly this means they will assist each other. In some cases one motor may drag on the other motor, or the motors may even cancel each other out.
Even when the motors are totally opposed to each other there will be no damage.
