Answered: [VEX U] Altering 3D printed parts

Hello Karthik,

Could a VEX U team alter a 3D printed part and still count it as a 3D printed part.

For example it is common to use an acetone bath to smooth out the rough edges of a 3D printed part.

I’m also curious if milling into or cutting a 3D printed part would be allowed.

An extreme version of this would be deliberately overprinting a part and then effectively milling that part so that all of the surfaces fit a desired profile.

Thanks!

Minor modifications such as filing, deburring, and the acetone bath you’ve described would be legal. Major modifications are not permitted.
