(again sorry for the barrage of VexU questions)

In VUR7.a, the additional sensor must be connected to the Cortex.

a. Sensors and Electronics MUST be connected to the VEX ARM® Cortex®-based
Microcontroller, and can only be connected via any of the externally accessible ports.

Does connecting the ground wire only to the Cortex count as a connection while other wires go to a co-processor system like a Pi/Atom/Arduino? Does each new sensor have to correspond to a new port on the Cortex or can they share power/ground and all signal processing being handled by the co-processor unit?

I ask because it seems VRU7.c.ii allows for power wire to come from an additional battery source.

c. From an additional VEX 7.2V Robot Battery or from a VEX 9.6V Transmitter Battery
(only one (1) additional battery can be used for sensor power.)

Yes.

They can share power/ground, with all signal processing being handled by the co-processor, provided that they are powered legally and all other rules are obeyed.
