Hi,
I was successfully running RobotC v1.70.1beta on VEXnet and today it stopped working.
I saw the previous “Vexnet will not work with RC controller” thread, downloaded “VEX WiFi Default Firmware.zip” and “VEX WiFi Default Firmware.zip” (both dated 10-08-09) unzipped’em, loaded them into the microcontroller, re-hooked VEXnet, and powered up with freshly charged transmitter and receiver batteries.
The VEXnet LED is fast blinking green and the ROBOT LED is slow blinking red.
This LED blinking schedule indicates “linked” and “main battery dead”, however when I measure the the battery voltage at the battery connector while the receiver is on, I read 8.08 volts. The transmitter battery reads 10.1 volts on the LCD display.
I then downloaded “VEX_MASTER_V8e.BIN” and “VEX VM0780.hex” (included with RobotC 1.70.1Beta and use to work) with the same results.
The kids may have reversed a motor lead (un-polarized extension). They don’t tend to tell you these things…
Competition is in 8 days and the kids need practice.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
The Fast Green Blinking VEXnet LED indicates good communication between the TX Upgrade and the RX Upgrade units. If the Robot Battery was almost dead the LED would be solid RED (if no other faults are detected). I am assuming you are seeing what we define as a Red BLIP (Red Off much longer than it is On) - this indicates no Joystick detected. The main cause is that the Transmitter Front Power Switch is Off or the Yellow Cable from the TX Upgrade is not connected to the Transmitter.
The transmitter front power switch is on. The LCD is displaying the battery voltage. The Yellow cable from the VEXnet upgrade is connected to the transmitter.
The ROBOT LED is blinking at ~1Hz with an approximate 80-90% on duty cycle.
The VEXnet LED is blinking at ~5-10Hz with an approximate 50% duty cycle.
I consider a “blip” to be ~10% duty cycle, so I don’t see a “blip.”
Thanks,
Rob
