Answered: VEXU Allowed 3D Printing Materials

Hi Karthik,

There are many new teams joining VEXU this year, and I thought it would be helpful to state early on in the season whether certain 3D printable materials would be legal under VUR2 in the VEX In The Zone Appendix E manual. The rule specifically states “plastics” but there are a lot of different formulas of plastics that are also mixed with other materials now. Most of these materials do not require an upgraded or more expensive printer to use. Below you will find a list of materials with a link to each one, and it would be very helpful if you could make a ruling on them.

Matterhackers NylonX: NylonX Carbon Fiber Filament - 1.75mm (0.5kg) | MatterHackers
Markforged Onyx: Onyx - Composite 3D Printing Material
Taulman Nylons (910,Bridge,etc…): http://taulman3d.com/main-features.html
Igus Iglide: Browse all of our 3D Printing Materials | igus®
Proto-Pasta HTPLA (Heat Treatable): https://www.proto-pasta.com/collections/new-releases-favorites/products/premium-htpla-v3-pre-release

Of course all other rules regarding 3D printed parts would apply.
Thank You

These are legal for use in as part of the 3D printed part allowance in VEX U.
