Answered: VEXU third party PWM cables

There is NO restriction on sensors and additional electronics used for sensing and processing except as follows:

b. Sensors and Electronics CANNOT directly electrically interface with the VEX motors or motor controllers.

In VEXU would third party PWM extensions cables be legal to be used? With the height that needs to be lifted 5 ft extension cables that are longer would be very very useful.

PWM cables are a standard so there shouldn’t be an advantage or disadvantage to using nonVEX wires and if we are trusted to hook up all our own sensors electronic systems than there shouldn’t be any safety issue.

Thanks

No, this would not be legal, as per , as quoted above. The GDC will revisit and discuss this rule for potential VEX U changes in future seasons.

A guy can hope :(.

Anyway Thanks Karthik

And just to clarify.

Third party PWM cables of the same length would be legal in both VRC and VEXU?

<R7> Robots are allowed the following additional “non-VEX” components:
b. Any parts which are identical to legal VEX parts. For the purposes of this rule, products which
are identical in all ways except for color are permissible. Note: It is up to inspectors to
determine whether a component is “identical” to an official VEX component

And third party extension cables to be used in IME’s of any length are legal in VEXU. As only the VEX IME interacts with the motor while the cable is considered additional electronics used for sensing. Right?

VEX IME wires are only 12 inches long and running 5 extension cables up a lift is just begging for a problem.

Yes, these are legal.

Yes, these are legal.
