Answered: Weight of VEX Products

I have a (large) list of parts that I would like the weights of. The more precise the better, but I’ll take anything I can get. The reason for this is so that I can allow my CAD library to be as accurate as possible, so I can get a good weight estimate on robots/mechanisms I build. Autodesk Inventor allows me to get an estimated weight based on the volume of the part and the material, but I’d like to have more accurate weights. I was able to find the weights for many of the parts on their Product Pages, but a lot of them (mostly the steel/aluminum parts) did not have those listed. So here’s the list:

If VEX does not have the weights of these parts for some reason and that is why they are not on their product pages, then that is fine – just let me know and I’ll just ask the VEX Community and/or make a trip to the post office one of these days. Otherwise it would be great if these weights could be put on the product pages.

Thanks so much!

Hi Jordan,
I’ll get my new crop of summer interns to start weighing. We’ll have all that posted… whenever we finish weighing everything.

-John

PS - You are now the least popular person in the VEX intern lab.

Thanks so much, JVN!

P.S. I had a feeling that I’d make someone unhappy.

Mr. John:

I hate to be a bother, but I was wondering how far along this has gotten. I have not yet taken a scale to weigh all these, but I think I’ll start using Mr. Blake’s weights he gave awhile back for some of the structural pieces.

Unless this has gotten somewhere and the weights are simply not put up yet? Anyway, just looking for an answer. I’m glad that the new parts mostly include their weights, but I feel that the old parts should be updated to be as informative.

Thanks!
