Answered: Zero drivers permitted?

Are zero number of drivers permitted?

<G3> Each team shall include up to two Drivers and one Coach.
– Zero drivers is less than two.

<G7> During a Match, Robots may be remotely operated only by the Drivers and/or by software running in the on-board control system.
– Zero drivers would require a completely autonomous robot.

<SG5,6,7> include the word “Coaches”
– Zero drivers still allows the Coach to do Match Loads, etc per these rules.

Yes, a team may have zero drivers, provided that no other rules are violated.

Thanks for promptness on a busy day on the Q&A.

Are there any particular rules that you would like to highlight as being more likely to be violated by “zero drivers” concept?

What is an acceptable way to support the joystick so the LEDs can be seen, without violating <G7> (touching controls)?

Suspending the joystick by the game cable?

“Zero Drivers” would be an interesting way to participate in remote contests.
Just ship your robot there, and have someone put it on the field for you;
similar to model rocket by proxy concept.

You’re welcome.

<G7> is the first rule which comes to mind. I’ll leave it to the teams to come up with possible solutions.
