Any difference between HS inserts?

our team has never had issues with HS inserts ruining the inside of gears but we were just wondering if there is a difference between the long HS inserts and the stubby ones

we’d expect that the long ones would be stronger cause of the larger surface area but we have no real way to test this out

there’s probably some benefit in spacing cause the long HS insert sits flush with the gear/sprocket/wheel but other than that we don’t really understand why it exists

anyone with experience in this?

The long inserts are designed to fit inside the metal 12T pinions, and the normal stubby ones are for all the other gears/sprockets. You can use the long metal one in gears, but there’s no real reason to do it since it doesn’t properly fix the gear in a position
