Any recommendation in elevation holder?

any recommendation in holding the elevation when motor is off? we are currently planning to have some sort of ratchet at the end, but i bet there is more efficient way.

not too sure where you want your elevation but assuming that you are grabbing onto the middle bar and your robot can lift itself onto the bar beforehand but either cant stay on after the motors relax at the end of the match or it instantly falls down when you stop spinning the motors I think I have 3 solutions for you ( you can also combine them to make it stronger as well

  1. a locking mechanism
you can make locking mech and then have the elevation be right on top so it doesn’t lock at the beginning of the match but when you lift the robot in the air it engages with the locking mech and stays there

  2. rubber bands
you can use rubber bands so it naturally stays down so you can lift yourself in the air and it stays there (although if you go with the third option and it cant lift itself in the air because its too heavy you can use this with it to give it more power)

  3. pnuematics
you can use pnuematics to lift your robot it the air instead of motors as they stay in the position you say and will not stop/relax like motors do at the end of the match instead it will keep pulling you up into the air and it will not stop until you disarm it (we use this option with option number 2 so if you have the time and parts you can build this Which works really well. our robot does great with it because it is extremely heavy )

Oh, I haven’t thought about the pnuematics. Thanks al lot!

You could also just use some pistons to slide a C-channel, L-Channel, etc. into place so that it locks. I would recommend the pneumatics though, as it will free some motors up for you.
