Anyone can help me on enhacing catapult design?

Our team recently made a catapult design like this, but the balls rarely go over the mid bar. Any recommendation to improve our design? Thank you!

Use VEX rubber bands. Those bands look really thin, and VEX ones are thicker with more power. Try adding 1 or 2 of them.

is the gear mechanism and structural design look fine?

It looks good! If you have better rubber bands, use them, and then If you have high strength axles use those on both of the axles or you could probably just do a bar in-between the gears :person_shrugging:

I would use high strength axles for both the red gears driving the catapult. The low strength ones might bend and cripple the system.

Not a biggie but I would add pulleys on the side to put the rubber bands on instead of standoffs. We bent a lot of standoffs that way.

We have much better distance when the punch hits the triball at a right angle and when it drives through the triball instead of stopping early. So you could try either tilting your triball loading spot or do some triangle bracing so you hit the triball with your standoffs at a different angle.

oh, we hadn’t thought about that before. we will try. Thanks a lot!
