Anyone using a rack and pinion as an indexer?

just wanna know and see if im on the right path

There really isn’t a right path for using a motor as an indexer. Rack and pinion is one of the viable paths. All depends on the geometry of your robot as to where and how you fit in that function.

In my opinion, if you have the motor to spare
Or want to do some motor sharing, using a slip gear with a rack gear is definitely the right way to go, from what I’ve seen, motor indexers if built right are a lot more consistent and fast when compared to pneumatic indexers. Or in other words, yes, I’d say you are on the right path
