I’ve been seeing a lot of teams use hotswap motors, is this needed? I have a 4-motor direct drivetran, 6 wheels, on green cartridges. what’s your advice?
do you have frequent over heatin problems? are you afraind that if you have back to back matches or need t orun skills this over heat issue will cause you to underpreform? if yest to both yeah you should od hotswap, if not then no.
hotswap also allows for simpler replacing of a motor it if breaks so if u have some motors that have motor screws that are super hard to get to you might consider hot swapping those

Hotswapping also makes it easier to test friction in a drivetrain because you can remove the motors easily
It also depends on how fast the tournaments are in your region. In my region, there are many incredibly fast tournaments that can have as low as 4 queue gaps. This leads to burnout especially since we are also trying to run skills. In situations such as that, hot swap motors are very useful. If you do not face this problem though, they may not be the best idea as they limit the flexibility you have while building your drive train.
