Are there any Rules that might prevent surveillance of the pit using a temporary set rig to record your pit in the case of theft?

The game manual does not prohibit but I don’t know about recording background people without their consent (I’m not a lawyer). This seems like a complicated solution to simple problem. Another simpler solution would be to have a teammate or parent stay at the pit and watch over it if you are so concerned about theft.

That would be just like installing a security camera so my thought is that it would be legal

A key point to be aware of is that many states have laws prohibiting the AUDIO recording of persons without their consent. These laws vary by state.

I would recommend researching the surveillance and wiretapping laws in your state before trying this…

With a security camera, you would usually own the building where it is set up, but with your pit area, you would not, so that might make the rules for the latter different.
