Are we qualled for words?

We got 2nd place in skills at state, 10th place in finals, but we got the highest skills score in Arizona. would we be qualled for worlds?

It looks like Arizona VIQRC MS had 4 spots for Worlds so those go to the teams above. Maybe next year!

Your coach would get an email if you had qualified. Were you at Arizona states? I do not understand how you got second with the highest score.

I can check more in the morning but this documents the process for qualifying to an event and how spots are allocated, handed down the skills list, etc. https://kb.roboticseducation.org/hc/en-us/articles/5474199602071-Qualifying-Criteria-for-VEX-Robotics-Competition-Events

Did another team double qualify in the az state comp because if they did you go up in skills so you have a chance.

How did you get 2nd place skills but the highest skills score in Arizona? Or are you not an Arizona team?

Our coach has not talked to us yet, we were at Arizona states, and we got the highest skills score at a previous comp (272) but at this comp we got beaten in skills by 3 points D:

I’m wondering how you got 2nd in state, but also the highest …
Do you mean that you got second at the state competition, but the best score of all time is yours?

Yeah, at a previous comp we scored 272, at state we got 236. There was 1 team higher than us, they got 239. That said, 272 is the highest score that anyone has gotten in Arizona (MS)

When it comes to awarding Worlds spots at a State championship (or Regional) they will only consider skills scores from the State tournament. Your higher skills score at a previous tournament is not a factor at the state tournament for spots given out at State.

From the Qualifying Criteria page on RECF’s site: “If a team double qualifies (wins multiple qualifying awards) at an Event Region Championship, a VEX Robotics World Championship invitation will be awarded to the next highest team on the Robot Skills Challenge list at that event who did not win a qualifying award (exception to this rule in 2c).”

The point is moot in your case, as Arizona MS IQ had four spots to Worlds: Excellence, Teamwork Champions (x2) and Design. There were no double qualifications, so even the Robot Skills Champion didn’t get a spot.

There are other ways your skills score at a previous tournament could help, e.g. if you are one of the top ten skills teams in the world that did not get a Worlds spot at their regional tournament. That’s exceptionally difficult but some teams do it.

There was double qualifications. Basically two. Roborunners (Teamwork) got excellence at a sig. Llama Kazama, in their history of robotics, never travels to go to a tournament. Where would the qualification go after Innovate? The only reason why I am asking is because of these scenarios. Furthermore, the team that has won skills has been reported for cheating twice.

Oh one more thing, we are not on the waitlist yet
