I’ve only been to a couple of events this season and haven’t seen anyone use the “GPS Sensor”. (The one with the strips around the field) Quick show of hands (multi choice):

  • We are using GPS successfully in skills
  • We are using GPS successfully in matches
  • We are trying to use GPS this season
  • We tried and gave up on it
  • We don’t have the sensor

Is the we don’t have the sensor the we don’t use it option?

We have one but we didn’t get it till mid to late January, the programmers got too obsessed with LEDs and haven’t used it yet, my hope is to use it for states (if we qual).

Yea, not having the strips makes it hard to use the sensor. You can get them here GPS Field Code V2 - VEX Robotics You should also call around to your local EP. Many bought the strips and then converted over to the new plastic fields that have the codes on them. That made the old ones not needed.

You would pick the don’t have the sensor option. I can figure out if you don’t have it, you don’t use it.

It’s been two weeks.

I’m not surprised that 4 out of 28 have been successful at using the sensor in matches/skills. I wrapped up my VRC season as JA, Judge, etc. and haven’t seen the sensor in use all this year.
