Autodesk Inventor: How To Find The Weight Of Project & Show Exact Part List?

How do you find the weight of your robot in Autodesk Inventor 2012? Is there a way to show the exact parts your robot is using in inventor?

Thanks!

P.S. Just so you know, my newer libraries have more accurate weights.

How do you insert your 2013 Beta library into 2012 projects? It gives me errors.

You cannot use 2013 or 2014 parts with Inventor 2012. You would have to update to Inventor 2013 or 2014. Old parts can be used in new versions of Inventor, by simply updating them. However, you cannot use new parts in old versions.

How do you update from 2012 to 2013? Download the whole software again?

yes … redownload from ed community

That’s annoying… So then I have to uninstall 2012… ugh :frowning:

I’ve deleted one post from this thread for being unnecessary and rude.

You don’t have to uninstall 2012. I had three versions on my PC until recently. The old installs do take up quite a bit of space on your drive so it is recommended.

One thing to note - it seemed to take forever and a day to run the Autodesk uninstall process. So make sure you have some time on your hands. It is almost worth it to buy another hard drive for anout $75 solely for Inventor stuff. You could reformat the drive quicker than the uninstall process takes.

This might not be a good idea, because of messed up registry keys, symbolic links, missing start up files, etc. But it might be that these things would work alright for the next version; I am not sure.

I make extensive use of virtualization. Between work and hobby related projects I have over 30 virtual machines, it allows multiple versions of applications (six different versions of ROBOTC for example) to be kept around.

Which virtualization software do you use?
I have experimented with VMware and openbox.

Cheers Kb
